This tool is located on the Add section of the Manage tab.
Function
The Import interface () is used to import an Excel file (.xlsx extension) to add multiple projects to the STIP at once.
Look
The image below shows an example of how the Import interface will appear on the user's screen.
Workflow
To use this interface, the user can first select the "Choose File" button to open their computer's file explorer. Then, they can navigate to the desired file, select it, and click the "Open" button. Once the file is chosen and uploaded, the import results will appear on the table. The Import interface will then look similar to this:
If the user is satisfied with the imported information, they can click the "Import" button. When the projects are initially imported, a single funding record will be created that includes the Total Project Cost amount. This value will be highlighted in yellow on the Projects tab to indicate that no specific funding sources have been assigned. From this point, the user can select the project they wish to edit and create detailed funding records on the Funding tab.
If the user no longer wishes to import the file information, they can click the "Close" button on the Import interface.
Import Template
To successfully import a file, the user must check that the file is in the right format (i.e. Excel) and contains approved column types. The image below is the current template given for imports to MassDOT STIP. The column types shown are: FTA Program, Transit Agency, FTA Activity Line Item, Project Number, Project Description, Carryover (unobligated), Federal Funds, RTACAP, MAP, ICB, SCA, VW Settlement Funds, TDC, and Local Funds.
