The Map Frame is located on the right side of the STIP Viewer. It is indicated below in a red box.
Function
The Map Frame is an interactive screen that allows users to see projects, zoom to them, and view their general data.
Components
The Map Frame will display the whole state with all projects mapped by default. Its appearance can be altered by using the four available controls: Zoom In, Zoom Out, Legend, and Basemaps.
| Control | Used To... |
| Zoom In ( |
Zoom in to the state. |
| Zoom Out ( |
Zoom away from the state. |
| Legend ( |
Display a list of available map layers that can be turned on/off by clicking the appropriate checkbox. |
| Basemaps ( |
Open a list of available basemaps for the user; changes the background/appearance of the map. |
The Map Frame will also host the Search Results table if the Project Filters are used. This table shows much of the same information as the Map pop-up, a box that appears if the user clicks on a mapped project. While the Map pop-up has more information, the Search Results table gives more insight into the distribution of funding in the given year range. As shown in the table below, the Search Results table hosts the Project ID, Description, Program, MPO, STIP Years (in this case, 2023-2027), and STIP Total fields; the Map pop-up hosts the Activity, Program, MPO, Description, Funding Range, Total Cost, Route LRS, From, and To fields.
Search Results Table
The Search Results table will not be displayed in the Map Frame upon entering the application. To open this table, the user must select options in the Project Filters box, then click "Find." These actions will both filter the mapped results and trigger the appearance of the Search Results table. Once the table is in view, the user can click one of its rows to zoom the map to the related project on the Map Frame. Then, the user can also view the Map pop-up by clicking on the mapped project. The Search Results table can also be opened in another format by using the "Open as PDF" or "Open in Excel" buttons.
Map Pop-Up
The Map pop-up is accessible through the Search Results table actions, but it is also accessible by simply clicking a mapped project. If more than one entry exists near the selected location, the user can flip through them by using the navigation arrows or numbers on the Map pop-up (in the red rectangle below). If the user clicks the numbers (ex. 1 of 2), a pop-up list will appear that allows the user to click the nearby project that they wish to view.
