The Select from Map tool () is located on the Map and Interactive Controls ribbon. This control allows the user to find route information by interacting directly with the map.
Select from Map
To utilize the Select from Map tool, the user must click its icon (), then click on the desired area on the map. This map selection will open a list of routes nearby:
On this list, the user can click one of the route links to map the point and view the route information box. If only one route exists in the selected location, the user will view the plotted point and route information box immediately.
The route information box displays the Route, Milepoint, State Functional Class, Federal Functional Class, Jurisdiction, and AADT values. This box can be viewed in a larger window by clicking the icon.
The user can also view more information about this route by clicking one of the viewer option links or selecting a data option in the "Go To" picklist. The Google Street View and Pictometry Viewer options are shown below. The Videolog Viewer option is also available.
The "Go To" picklist is shown below, with its four available options expanded-- Bridge, Projects, Road Inventory, and Traffic.
Once one of these options is selected, the map will zoom to the route and highlight it, and the query criteria and summary data box will be displayed on the right side of the Map Frame in the Criteria pop-up. The "Go To" options correspond to some of the Main Menu categories; therefore, the fields in the summary data boxes will reflect fields hosted in these categories on the Main Menu. For example, the images below show how the Project and Road Inventory "Go To" data could appear. The Project example image has the Project ID, Project Description, Project Type, and Project TFPCC fields. The Road Inventory example image has three Location Type fields (Route, Direction, and Segment) and three Road Inventory fields (Lane Width, Number of Through Lanes, and Speed Limit) in its summary data box.
Just as in any summary data box, the user can utilize the Details, Save Search, and View Tabular Format links for the "Select from Map" information.
