The Projects interface is displayed by default after clicking the Projects Button on the STIP Viewer.
Layout
The Projects interface has three main areas: Project Filters, Project Table, and Map.
Project Filters
The Project Filters on the MassDOT Projects Viewer serve a similar purpose to the Project Filters on the main STIP Viewer screen. These fields filter the mapped projects and the Project Table based on certain criteria. The Project Table and Map will update automatically as filter criteria is entered. The table below describes the available fields/criteria.
| Field | Description |
| Project Number | A free-form text field that can be used to enter the Project ID in whole or in part. |
| Location Contains | A free-form text field that can be used to enter keywords that appear across project descriptions (ex. "Granby"). |
| District | A picklist of all Districts associated with STIP projects. |
| MPO | A picklist of all MPOs associated with STIP projects. |
| Status | A picklist of the statuses associated with STIP projects. There are four options: All Statuses, Complete, Construction, and Design. |
| Program | A picklist of all programs associated with STIP projects. |
| Funding | A picklist of all funding types associated with STIP projects. |
Project Table
The Project Table lists all the related project entries based on the Project Filter selections; if no filter selections have been made, all projects will be listed in the table. Each entry listed will contain the Project Name, Project Number, Project Date, and More Info Button.
| Entry Element | Description |
| Project Name | Lists the Project Name; this field is equivalent to the Project Description. |
| Project Number | Lists the Project ID for the entry. |
| Ad Date | Lists the Project Date. |
| More Info Button | Opens a pop-up that lists the project's funding, design, and construction details. |
The user can navigate and work with the Project Table information using this control strip:
| Control | Used To... |
| Search Bar | Filter the project entries by entering a Project Name or Project Number in part or in full. |
| Show Selected/Show All ( |
Change the table display. If "Show Selected" is clicked, only the selected entry will be displayed; if "Show All" is clicked, all entries will fill the table. The Project Table is in "Show All" mode by default. |
| Clear Selection ( |

| Actions ( |
Export data and navigate to a certain entry. There are five available actions here: Export All, Export Selected, Zoom To, Pan To, and Show on Map. Export All -- Export all data in JSON, CSV, or GeoJSON format. Export Selected -- Export data for the selected entry in JSON, CSV, or GeoJSON format. Zoom To -- Zoom to the selected entry on the map. Pan To -- Center/Pan to the selected entry on the map. Show on Map -- Show the selected entry on the map. If no entry is selected, only the Export All action will be available. |
Map
The Map originally shows the entire state with all mapped projects that match the Project Filters criteria; if no filter selections have been made, all projects will be shown on the map. This portion serves as a visual for the data listed in the Project Table. There are six controls on this portion:

| Basemap ( |

There is also a Map pop-up that is made available in this portion of the Projects interface which lists the details of the selected project. To access this tool, the user can click on a project on the Map. Then, they can view the given information in two formats: Dock () or Undock (
). These formats are shown below.
The user can also zoom closer to the selected project by clicking the icon or scroll through the nearby projects using the arrows or numbers on the
tool on the Map pop-up. If the user clicks the numbers (ex. 1 of 5), a pop-up list will appear that allows the user to click the project/entry that they wish to view.
More Info
The More Info Button on the Project Table leads to a pop-up interface composed of a Map, Funding Table, Design Details box, and Construction Details box.
Map
The Map on the More Info interface, like the one located on the Projects interface, has zoom and Map pop-up controls. The user can zoom in (), zoom out (
), select the project (Map pop-up), and pan (click, hold, and drag) in this small box.
Funding Table
The Funding Table has two tabs: STIP and Construction Stage Funding. Only one of these tabs will contain funding data. If any Construction Details exist, the "Construction Stage Funding" tab will be filled. If no Construction Details exist, the "STIP" tab will be filled. The images below show the STIP (left) and Construction Stage Funding (right) tabs with data; these images are from different projects.
Design Details
The Design Details section provides the project type, PRC Approved Date, Design Status percentage, and the reason this specific project was necessary.
Construction Details
The Construction Details section provides the Bid Open Date, NTP Date, Contract No., Contractor, Construction Status, Completion Date, and Estimated Total Contract Cost. This section will only be filled if construction has started; if construction has not started, only the Estimated Total Contract Cost will be filled.
STIP Funding Information
To navigate to the STIP Funding Information interface, the user must select the "STIP Funding Information" button in the lower left corner of the Projects interface.
Workflow
The Projects interface conveniently outlines the workflow steps for users. This list of steps should appear in the lower left corner above the "STIP Funding Information" button. If it does not appear in this position, the user can use the computer's zoom functionality to zoom the screen out. Often, this involves clicking the three dots in the upper right corner of the web browser and clicking the minus sign beside the word "Zoom." The workflow steps are shown in the image below.
