The caret tool can be found throughout the MassDOT STIP Viewer application. Specifically, it is found in these five locations: Project Filters (Viewer), Search Results Table (Viewer), Project Filters (Projects interface), Layers Map Tool (Projects interface), and Project Filters (STIP Funding Information interface).
Function
The caret tool allows the user to open and hide certain elements when viewing the interface.
Locations
The sections below detail the five sections where the caret tool is found.
Project Filters -- Viewer
When the user opens the application, there is a Project Filters section on the top left of their screen. The user can hide this section, and the Standard Reports and Project Button, by clicking the caret icon. Then, they will only be able to view the Map Frame on their screen. The caret tool can also be used to reopen the Project Filters if desired.
Search Results Table -- Viewer
The Search Results Table will appear on the Map Frame when the Project Filters are used on the main screen. This table can be hidden from view and reopened using the caret tool.
Project Filters -- Projects Interface
The user can enter the Projects Interface by clicking on the Projects Button. On this interface, the user can filter the table and map data using its designated Project Filters. These filters can be hidden to show only the table and map on the screen. The caret tool can also be used to reopen the Project Filters if desired.
Layers Map Tool -- Projects Interface
The user can enter the Projects Interface by clicking on the Projects Button. On this interface, the user can add layers to the map-- Milepoint, Exits, Highway Shields, Projects, and/or Towns-- by clicking on the Layers icon on the Map Frame. The user can extend the Highway Symbols category using the caret tool to be able to select the Milepoint, Exits, and Highway Shields layer options. The caret tool can also be used to hide these layer options once more if desired.
Project Filters -- STIP Funding Information interface
When the user is on the Projects Interface (accessible through the Projects Button on the main screen), they can navigate to the STIP Funding Information interface using the button bearing its name in the lower left corner. On this interface, the user can filter the table and totals data using its designated Project Filters. These filters can be hidden to show only the table and totals on the screen. The caret tool can also be used to reopen the Project Filters if desired.
